Why an online portfolio?

Since the summer of 2006 this subdomain has been used to showcase some of my work after the purchase of my first DSLR. Originally it was intended as a "one-photo-per-day" blog, but I couldn't keep up with this vigorous scheme. Therefore I maintained a three-day posting routine and I have uploaded a total of 436 photos on that blog.

In the summer of 2010 I decided to close the blog due to a variety of reasons. One of the main reason was the fact both the CMS I used and my design were in need of a complete overhaul. Besides that I was uploading some of the same content on Flickr as well and I just figured it would be easier to maintain if all photos and comments are in one place. But I still felt compelled to keep my own blog, but I was thinking in transforming it more into a portfolio.

All this lead to the current portfolio, using the photos I upload at Flickr. Instead of my own commenting system I can use the one provided by Flickr, keeping all the information in one place. Furthermore it gives me access to a variety of different image sizes, making my options to showcase my work so much broader.

Site and design information

This site was made possible by (a heavily modified version) of Flogr, which has been update to use phpFlickr 3.0 to get the information from Flickr. Both packages are written in PHP. It also uses the excellent Javascript library jQuery to provide some visual eyecandy as well as some information.

The design is based upon the Photoblog theme from Duncan Cox, who has been so generous to give his permission to make some modifications to the theme to suit my needs.

About Me

I am an amateur photographer, trying to understand the wonderful world of photography. As such I love to take photographs and process them using a variety of tools.

By posting some of my work I hope others will enjoy these photographs as well. It also gives me the chance to receive some criticism, which in turn will make me a better photographer. I encourage you (my dear visitor) to leave your comments behind.

If you're interested in buying a print or use a photograph for (commercial) purposes, please contact me.
