Fishermen memorial at Katwijk
Since 1919 approximately 275 fishermen from the city of Katwijk have never returned from the sea. Since 2005 a memorial has been erected at the boulevard, remembering all these fishermen left at sea. On top the following phrase is found: "Naar zee vertrokken voor dagelijks brood. Onwetend over het einde van hun leven. Geen afscheid van dierbaren gaf deze dood. Alleen de namen en herinneringen bleven." It is a lasting memory to all men from Katwijk who have lost their lifes at sea.
